Power might as well be the middle name of Saleen and this is evident with the 2006 Saleen S7 Twin Turbo. Way back in 2002 the Saleen was the only 500-horsepower and 500pound=feet torque car classified as street-legal in the United States.
It is recognized as the world’s fastest production car by several automotive magazines. But over the years the speed magic of the Saleen has been overtaken by developments in the auto industry particularly the introduction of new and faster car models like Mercedes-Benz, Lamborghini and Ferrari with horsepowers over the 500 mark.
Then came the Saleen S7 Twin Turbo with a smoking 750 horsepower and 700 pound-feet of torque. So what provides the boost to the second edition Saleen auto? No les than twin turbos and aerodynamics. Place the 2002 model beside the 2005 model and you probably would not notice the aerodynamic contours, reshaped fenders and different rear and spoiler package but they are there.
At a base price of $585,000 the 2006 Saleen S7 Twin Turbo boasts of the latest in modern racing technology. With a redline of 6500 rpm, all aluminum engine with 7-liter displacement and aluminum throttle body, the Saleen Twin Turbo is indeed the car to beat. Its competitors have a lot of catching up to do.
